Bass Clarinet Concertimento

From the summer 2015, a concertimento for bass clarinet and small orchestra...Flute, French Horn, Vibraphone, Violin, Cello. The piece is dedicated to great Peter Hess. Using a system of modal circularity called BOSWIJCK TONE WHEEL. Constructed in panels of colored staff paper, made by my sons Felix and Avery and then composed through these methods of spontaneous composition. Lets play this!!

My name is Charles Waters. I am a composer and performer living in Brooklyn. I am originally from North Carolina via Atlanta now in beginning my second (?) decade here in the Big Apple. I started this blog to explain some of my compositional working methods - in particular this new style or form of works that I call CONCERTIMENTO . But also to write about shows I see(a lot), thing I see ( strange!) encounters I have and just basic musical life in my late-thirties. I would be part of what I call the SUBMERGING COMPOSERS GROUP.  2023 and we’ll I heard blogs are back! We’ll it’s been a busy year with house reading of my cantata and trip to Paris in which among many amazing things I played a short solo clarinet set at Cultural Rapide in the 18th..and back in with clarinet orchestra at Greenwich House Music School under direction of maestro JD Parran..truly blessed..more soon..love to hear your feedback on this new work!
